Create Ad Campaigns

Creating a Walmart ad campaign requires following four steps: selecting products, setting ad strategy and structure, confirming ad settings, and setting AI objective. Drafts can be saved at any point during the process.

Step 1: Select Products

  • The system distinguishes between products currently being advertised and those not advertised, enabling quick filtering. For products already being advertised, metrics like ad sales and ROAS are provided for reference

  • When entering items, variant items can be added together.

Step 2: Select Strategy and Structure

Product Grouping Options
When customers select multiple products, they can choose:

  1. "Create ads for all products together": If the products are similar and share common keywords, this option can be selected without creating separate ads.

  1. "Create ads by main item": Different ad campaigns will be created for each main item and its variants.

  1. "Create ads by variant item": Separate ad campaigns will be created for each variant item, which is commonly used when there are differences between variant items that require separate ad targeting.

Set Ad Strategy
System supports the creation of the following ad strategies:

Targeting Type

Strategy - Level 1

Strategy - Level 2

Description

Automatic

Automatic targets

Automatic ads

Automatic campaigns

Manual

Non-brand

Competitive

Targets competitor brand keywords, aiming to capture competitor traffic

General

Targets product-related and category-related keywords

Brand

Brand Defense

Targets your brand keywords to create brand defense ads

Xnurta provides four common strategy templates, ranging from simple to complex:

  1. Auto Ads Only: Creates one auto ad for each product group

  1. Basic: Create automatic + manual structure for each product combination.

  1. Branded: Create an automatic + brand words + non-brand words structure for each product combination.

  1. Competitive: Create an automatic + brand words + general words + competitor words structure for each product combination.

In manual ads, multiple match types can be selected. The system also supports splitting match types into separate ad campaigns, ad groups within the same campaign, or keeping them all in a single ad campaign and group.

After selecting product combination methods and advertising strategies and structures, the system will estimate the expected number of advertising campaigns, ad groups, and the minimum daily budget requirements based on the customer's choices.

Step 3: Preview and Finalize Ad Settings

In the last step, you can view and set advertising campaigns, ad groups, keywords, and bids in a unified manner. Selecting multiple advertising campaigns supports batch operations.

If multiple products are selected and the main or variant items are split to create different campaigns, each product group will create its own advertising campaign, requiring the customer to click on the corresponding product image on the page to view the associated advertising campaign.

If certain settings can be shared among groups of products, the system allows one group’s settings to be applied to other product groups with a single click.

Click View to see all keyword and bid settings. Besides competitive strategies, the system will set keywords and bids for other strategy ad groups, and we provide the source of keyword recommendations, their search rankings on Walmart, click share of the top 3 products, and conversion share, helping sellers evaluate the traffic situation and competition level of keywords. Keyword search data on Walmart is provided by Walmart. Each ad group can set up to 20 keywords.

Click ‘edit’ button to modify keywords and bids. In the modification interface, customers can also see additional recommended keywords from the system.

To avoid duplicate targeting, if products have already been advertised with certain keywords, we will mark those as already placed and provide a one-click feature to delete previously used keywords.

If you have selected a large number of products, system will require more time to obtain recommended keywords. To avoid unnecessary waiting, this page will temporarily not display keyword and bid settings. You can submit the creation task first, and once the keyword recommendations are ready, the system will notify them in the creation history page to review and finalize the ad creation.

Step 4: Set AI Objectives

You can choose whether to enable AI immediately after creating the ad campaign.

  • If enabled AI, system will group all advertising campaigns of each product group into a management group and enabled AI based on product group. You are required to complete settings for AI objective and AI action space.

  • If not enabled AI, the system will only create ad campaigns without creating managed groups, and AI will not adjust the ads.

View/ Manage Ad Campaigns

Click the dropdown menu next to the smart creation button, then click "History" to view all smart creation tasks for products. You can also find the pending creating campaigns under ‘History’ tab.

Manage Naming Rules for Ad Campaigns

Click the dropdown menu next to the smart creation button, then click "Naming Rules" to manage the naming rules for smart creation. The system has already created a default set of naming rules, and customers can also create their own.

Sharing Naming Rule Templates: On this page, naming rules created by all accounts can be shared; accounts cannot modify or delete naming rules created by others.

Set as My Default Template: Customers can set a particular naming rule as their default template. After setting, this template will be used by default for naming advertising campaigns and ad groups during smart creation.

If users need to modify, they can click the dropdown menu for naming rules, select the desired rule, and click apply. After applying, all advertising campaign and ad group names will refresh.

FAQ

How does the system recommend keywords?
Currently, the recommended keywords come from the following sources:

  1. High-conversion historical keywords: For products that have been advertised before, the system selects keywords with relatively high sales and a conversion rate higher than the overall conversion rate of the item in the past 30 days.

  1. Root word expansion: Using search term reports from the past 30 days, the system extracts key root words representing the product based on word frequency statistics and extracts feature root words with conversion rates above average. The root words are then combined to form keyword expansions.

  1. Walmart recommended keywords: Walmart recommends keywords for the product based on relevance and other factors.

Xnurta plans to add keywords sourced from Amazon soon, allowing high-performing keywords on Amazon to be used for Walmart advertising, enabling keyword alignment across both platforms.
