Branded vs. Non-Branded Mode: Unlock Precision Harvesting

1. Applicable Scenarios

The newly introduced Branded vs. Non-Branded Mode in AI Managed Groups is designed for enterprise clients who require precise management of branded traffic. By maintaining branded keyword lists and manually marking campaign purposes (branded or non-branded), this mode enables accurate differentiation between branded and Non-Branded traffic, ensuring that the AI can effectively expand and optimize ads tailored to your needs.

2. What is Branded vs. Non-Branded Mode?

2.1 Setup

Enable the switch within the managed group, select your branded keyword list, and mark the traffic types of campaigns in the group. Once configured, AI will operate in Branded vs. Non-Branded Mode.

2.2 Effects

AI separates branded and non-branded traffic, enabling Precision Harvesting tailored to your needs.
This mode not only achieves efficient management and application of branded and non-branded keywords but also improves advertising efficiency, ensuring that your budget aligns with your advertising goals.

  • Branded vs. Non-Branded Mode is now supported for AI Harvesting.
  • Other application scenarios for Branded vs. Non-Branded Mode are coming soon!

3.  Usage Requirements

  • Available upon request through your CSM.
  • Only supported in SP and SB AI managed groups.

4. Detailed Functionality Explanation

4.1 Pre-Setup

1. Once permissions are enabled, you can see this mode in system settings.

2. Before large-scale usage, it is recommended to clearly mark the "traffic types" of campaigns on the Branded vs. Non-Branded Settings page for future convenience.

  • In the "Traffic Type" field, mark the campaigns as Branded or Non-Branded.

Note: This page does not display Auto campaigns, and SD campaigns are not supported for marking at this time.

3. Manage Branded Keyword Lists

  • The system automatically generates branded keyword lists based on brand information from the API, which can be edited.
  • You can also create new keyword lists or use existing ones to maintain branded keywords. (Keyword list selection in managed groups is not restricted.)

Note:

  • If the profile has only one brand, a single branded keyword list will be generated.
  • If the profile has multiple brands, separate keyword lists will be generated for each brand.
  • Naming convention: "Brand_[Brand Name][Store Name][Country]" (e.g., "Brand_Nike_StoreA_US").

4.2 Enable Branded vs. Non-Branded Mode for Managed Groups

You can enable this mode for managed groups individually or in bulk.

4.3 Select Branded Keyword Lists and Mark Traffic Types

  • Branded Keywords: You can choose from system-generated branded keyword lists or create your own. However, all keyword lists must be maintained manually to ensure AI can accurately determine branded keywords.
  • Traffic Types: Options include Auto, Branded, and Non-Branded. Auto campaigns cannot be modified. For smart-creation campaigns, the system will automatically mark the traffic types, but these can also be adjusted manually.

Note: Once the mode is enabled, selecting branded keyword lists and marking traffic types are mandatory.

4.3.1 How Does AI Determine Branded Keywords?

After selecting a branded keyword list, AI will treat the keywords in the list as Branded Keywords, while those not in the list will be treated as Non-Branded Keywords.

For example, if your keyword list includes “girls shoes,” the following search terms will be recognized as branded or non-branded based on the conditions:
Search Term Condition: Equals Condition: Contains
girls
girls shoes
girl shoe
GIRLS SHOES
teen girls shoes
girls shoes wear
girls blue shoes
shoes girls

4.3.2 Results: AI Precision Harvesting

AI separates branded and non-branded traffic, enabling Precision Harvesting tailored to your needs.

This mode not only achieves efficient management and application of branded and non-branded keywords but also improves advertising efficiency, ensuring that your budget aligns with your advertising goals.

  • Branded vs. Non-Branded Mode is now supported for AI Harvesting.
  • Other application scenarios for Branded vs. Non-Branded Mode are coming soon!

4.4 Status Display, Deactivation, and Other Entry Points

  • After Activation: The group interface will display the status of Branded vs. Non-Branded Mode.

  • After Deactivation: AI will return to standard optimization (same as the current mode), without requiring branded keyword lists or traffic type marking. Previously marked traffic types will still be retained for future use.

Note:  If Branded vs. Non-Branded Mode is enabled, the system will check whether the "traffic types" of campaigns in relevant managed groups are marked during scenarios such as enabling AI, moving campaigns to managed groups, or adding new campaigns to managed groups. To ensure precise AI harvesting, the system will prompt you to mark the traffic type on the interface, for example:
